Finance That Builds Homes

As the nation’s largest municipal housing finance agency, HDC plays a central role in expanding and preserving affordable housing across New York City. The brand needed to reflect that scale and expertise while remaining approachable to partners, stakeholders, and the communities it serves.

Listening and Direction

We worked closely with stakeholders across HDC to understand how the organization was perceived and where the brand needed to evolve. From those conversations, we developed multiple visual directions and refined a clear path forward that aligned with both internal priorities and external expectations.

A Brand That Reflects the Work

The final identity is grounded in the work itself. The mark uses three distinct forms to represent the range of housing types HDC supports, while a modern sans-serif typographic system emphasizes “HDC” in line with how the organization is referenced across the industry.

A refreshed color palette introduces warmth and energy without sacrificing authority. We extended the system across primary and secondary typography and into the website, creating a cohesive visual language that carries consistently across channels.
